The Verheyens

The Ponds

Sarah and Ric Verheyen moved into The Ponds earlier this year. Having lived close by in the Newbury Estate they are excited about living in The Ponds with their three children Chloe 5 years, Max 3 years and James 1 year.

Who built your home? We built a Metricon New Haven home.

Any design features of this home?
The walk in pantry is just amazing. We also love our walk-in wardrobe that is hidden just behind our bed. It really has a hotel style look and feel.

What are the best features in the home?

We really love the open plan living area. The kitchen and living areas flow together and I just love the fact the rumpus room is hidden behind a wall along with the all the toys and mess of the kids.

What are some positive things about living in your community?
We were debating about the public school versus private school options for the kids. In the end we decided John Palmer Public School was good for the kids for primary school level. We also felt that there were similar people and families like us moving into the area. The close proxity to shops and child care once Stanhope Parkway bridge is opened. This will save me about twenty minutes each day.

Why did you choose to build a home in The Ponds?
The Ponds has a create community feel. We just moved from living in Newbury Estate, which is adjacent to The Ponds. Whilst we had access to a community title pool we were keen to have our own pool. The pool in our new home is currently under construction and will be ready for the summer.

What are some of the favourite aspects of living in your community The Ponds?
We love that we have access to cycleways and open space right at our doorstep.

Do you participate in local community events, mums groups, sports etc or have friends close by?
As we lived in the general area, we have established a network of friends. The kids do activities in the local area as well.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Sustainability is very important to our family.

Are you doing anything extra to incorporate sustainability into your home?
Yes we have solar hotwater and have the standard watertank system. Once we get more established in the home and the pool is completed we plan to build our own veggie garden with the help of the kids. We think it is impotant for our kids to learn how they can help save the planet.

What are some of the activities or highlights of your typical weekend?
Today (on Sunday) we took the kids for a bike ride around our new community. We love catching up with friends and showing off our new home. I work at the Palace at Rouse Hill Town Centre so Ric and I love to catch a movie during the week when we can get a babysitter.
